Playa Blanca is located on the south-west coast of Lanzarote. This charming resort was traditionally a small fishing harbour, and has expanded over time into the town we know and love today.

The 8km promenade runs from the lighthouse, along the seafront and past the main town to the marina and Los Colarados. Easily accessible by foot, it would take approximately two hours to walk the entire length of the resort. Thankfully, there is a reliable, frequent and affordable bus service that runs throughout the day and taxis are a popular mode of transport.

There are three main beaches in Playa Blanca. Flamingo beach and Playa Dorada have breakwaters which makes them ideal for swimming and snorkeling. The water here is almost lagoon like, and surrounding the beach are a number of cafes and tapas spots for a bite to eat. Further along the promenade you will find the town beach.

It is the smallest of the three, and is usually quiet during the day. This beach is perfect for admiring the hustle and bustle of ferry boats coming in and out of the harbour from Fuerteventura. Behind the town beach is the Playa Blanca high street.

You can literally dine your way around the world here, thanks to the incredible variety of cuisines on offer - including traditional Spanish tapas, Chinese, Indian, Italian, and of course your home from home favourites too.

This is also where you can find the main shopping area, with a selection of duty free shops for your make up, perfumes, alcohol, and cigarettes. If water-sports are your thing, then head a little further along the promenade to Dorada Beach.

However, the most impressive of all are the famous Papagayo Beaches. They are tucked away in the furthest reaches of Playa Blanca, most easily accessible by boat, and most certainly worth a visit during your stay. These all-natural beaches boast crystal clear water abundant with marine life, and with the coves and cliffs surrounding them, you can snorkel and swim here with ease. These iconic untouched beaches are some of the most beautiful in the Canary Islands, and they truely do have to be seen to be believed.

Another favourite with holidaymakers is our resident volcano, Montana Roja. This red volcano is easily accessed by either foot or taxi, and once at its base you can walk to the top in approximately 45 minutes.

From the top you can see Playa Blanca in its entirety, along with views over to Fuerteventura and Los Lobos. Both Fuerteventura and Los Lobos are accesible from Playa Blanca by boat.

Fuerteventura is easy to visit, with frequent ferry crossings going from the harbour to the town of Corralejo every day. Los Lobos is also available to visit as a catamaran trip. There is a market in Playa Blanca every Wednesday and Saturday, and you can find it at the Rubicon Marina.

This stylish and modern harbour is abundant with high quality restaurants and cocktail bars, so you can relax and indulge after bartering and haggling your way around quirky Canarian crafts, foods, and handbags.

During the day you can walk for miles, or not move a muscle on Playa Blanca's beautiful beaches.

...and at night you can relax luxuriously in the marina, or dance and sing to your hearts content in the Papagayo Centre. Whether you're a couple looking for a romantic break away, or a family looking for some quality adventure time with the kids, Playa Blanca is guaranteed to have something for you.
